Mid-Century Modern Primary Bath

Bathroom

Prairie Village, KS

Small original 1950s mid-century modern bathroom upgrade. The design process revealed that a small bump out on the side of the bathroom would provide an additional 30 square feet of space to make the bathroom feel more like an adequate master bath. The old rusty cast-iron tub was replaced with a new open air concept shower. To save space the entry became a pocket door. The bump out created a new space for the toilet and made the flow of the original bathroom much more functional. The wood ceiling was added as a design element to match the vaulted paneled ceilings in the rest of the main level.
