A Chic Enclosed Porch in Overland Park

Sunspace window and screen products were chosen for maximum ventilation and multi-season use. Roller shades offer protection from late afternoon heat and infrared patio heaters warm the space up on chilly days or evenings.

The available space was increased by extending the enclosed porch to the end of the home and converting a bulky gas firebox to electric so the firebox’s bump out could be completely eliminated from the new outdoor space. Skylights were incorporated into the porch roof to maintain natural light into the interior living spaces and careful consideration was given to tying into multiple rooflines that accommodated various interior ceiling heights.

Behind the scenes, wood rot that had been hidden by the existing deck was repaired at windows, doors and the corner of the house. Electrical upgrades and structural refinements were implemented to support the needs of the new enclosed porch.

The old unsightly wooden deck and pergola had been beaten down by the elements and went largely unused. The homeowners now enjoy dining in their new enclosed porch throughout the seasons just steps from their gorgeous kitchen.
